Make a Day of It- A Day Trip to Mount Airy
Make a day of it!
If you are anything like us, winter cabin fever starts to get pretty old, pretty fast. While a trip somewhere warm and tropical would be ideal, if you need some faster gratification (ie. getting out of the house), why not plan a day trip to our home in Mount Airy?
Throughout the month of February, we will be featuring our Cask to Kisses pairing with wine and chocolate. We’ll have sweet, dry and blended lists and multiple complimentary chocolates and chocolate-related products. There might even be a chocolate cherry cordial cheese spread involved.
If you really want to go all out with your Valentine, consider our inmate Days of Wine & Roses. This special weekend always sells out, and features a barrel room tasting, Maryland’s own Wockenfuss chocolates, fruit, cheese and a long stemmed rose.
Speaking of selling out quickly, while you’re here be sure to buy a bottle of our Chambourcin Reserve to take home. This full bodied red does not go through a harsh filtration process, so its tannins are prominent.
Mount Airy isn’t just a great spot for wine lovers. After a tasting, treat yourself to a delicious dinner. Our tasting room employees love Laurienzo Brick Oven Cafe, known for their wood-fired pizzas and also a recommended fettuccine alfredo with shrimp.
The Mount Airy Tavern is another local favorite with hand-cut steaks, fresh fish and nothing processed or frozen. Or if you are a barbecue lover or a huge meat fan in general, look no further than CarterQue. Grab a bottle of their award winning Black Raspberry Grillin’ Sauce to go, and you can have a second souvenir from your day along with your wine!
