Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day today – enjoying the sights and sweet fragrance of spring! If you are coming up to the winery this weekend, you will notice some work being done on the front field that borders the lane. We are having new grapevines planted! We’ve included a picture below of the contraption (and the three guys) that actually do the planting. If you remember from a previous blog, the grapes in the front vineyard were taken out and the ground was being prepared for the new vines. Eric (our vineyard manager) had to…
Happy Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s Day to all those moms out there! Today we celebrate our own mom – the co-founder of the winery, Lucille Aellen. A far cry from her Brooklyn, NY roots, when, by Divine Providence, she landed here, with my dad, on a farm in the middle of nowhere (seems a little Green Acre-ish, don’t you think!)…and then to help my dad start a winery and run a farm and still try to be in charge of us kids – yikes! Who signed her up for that job! Well, anyway, she must have done something right! Happy Mother’s…
Happy Day to everyone! So today we are taking a walk into history. I’d like to tell you a little bit about our family. Specifically, our dad’s side of the family. Yes – our last name is Aellen – and for…
Good Afternoon! We hope everyone is having a good day today – knowing there are some of you who are just getting back in the swing of things, having been off for the holiday break…maybe even wishing you had another day off…while some of you are just happy to be back at work(!) Today we are talking with Eric about the vineyards. We seem to have less of them, and perhaps I am not here often enough, but I think one of our vineyards got eaten up overnight by a really big groundhog (and their family too – must be…
Merry Christmas from our family to yours! We hope today that you are enjoying some time with family and friends, and that you are sipping some of your favorite wine too, as you celebrate the holiday. It is our hope for you that today is a day of peace, love, hope and joy. Today we also remember my dad – today would have been his birthday – yep – he was a Christmas baby! (I’ll spare the jokes). My dad – John Aellen, is the founder of the winery, along with his wife, my mom, Lucille. Way back in 1971…
