Linganore Wines Win Big
Linganore wines receive eight medals at international competition
Mount Airy, Maryland April 7, 2016
Linganore Winecellars is thrilled to announce that our wines were recipients of multiple honors in the 2016 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. The annual competition was held from March 18-20 in Rochester, New York.
Eight wines received medals, with top honors going to our semi-dry white Terrapin, which won Double Gold in the category of White Blend. Terrapin is similar to a dry Riesling with a medium body and hints of honeysuckle and stone fruit. Its grapes include Vidal Blanc and Vignoles. Terrapin is a consistent favorite at festivals, and has previously won awards from the Governor’s Cup and Wine Master’s Choice.
Finger Lakes silver medals went to our 2014 Cabernet Reserve, Traminette, Melody and Chambourcin Reserve. Our 2014 Chardonnay Reserve, Blackberry Kiss and 2015 White Raven took home bronze medals.
More than 3800 wines from 26 countries were entered in the competition. All 50 states in the U.S. were represented, and Linganore was the only Maryland winery listed as taking home a medal in the double gold category. The family owned and operated winery is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, and this is a perfect way to kick things off!
